Romancing war
pretension of heroes
assumption of enemies –
of course each side
claims the same.
Romancing hate
ascension of prejudice
resurrection of bigotry –
both claiming not to be the other.
Romancing peace
protesting war machinery
attesting another's machinery –
neither claiming complicity.
Romancing love
alluring darkness
spurring darkness –
no need to claim either
only to romance the other.
