'Who's to blame?' - different Lenten reflection

     O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, despondency, lust for power and idle talk.

     But grant unto me, Thy servant, a spirit of chastity (integrity), humility, patience and love.

     Yes, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own faults and not to judge my brother and sisters. Amen

Who’s to blame?  (timothy r. gates, 08/08/2005)

A whore is raped.

Obviously it’s the whore’s fault;

she shouldn’t have dressed that way.

A Christian is fed to the lions.

Obviously it’s their fault;

they shouldn’t have lived openly like Jesus.

A Tibetan Monk is burnt to a crisp by Mao’s lackeys.

Obviously it’s the silent one’s fault;

he shouldn’t have worn an earthen robe.

A Pagan is dunked to death, accused of witchcraft.

Obviously it their fault for using herbs;

she should’ve acquiesced to the parson.

A nine year old girl was violated sexually.

Obviously it’s the girl’s fault for being pretty;

she shouldn’t have dressed so alluring.

A lovely young women is lusted after.

Obviously it’s the lovely girl’s fault;

she shouldn’t have allowed her beauty to be revealed.

The Son of Man was crucified.

Obviously it’s his fault;

he shouldn’t have said what he believed.
