time to get to church
on time
no guns, no homemade bombs.
in their Sunday best, ready for
prayer, singing, preaching, and...
Sunday school.
perhaps they did
sing with angels
pray with martyrs
preach to
Abraham and Sarah,
and share in Sunday school
with the prince from Ethiopia.
already reposed to this world
a little less than two millennium ago.
4 dead in Alabama,
were noted by my parents,
unaware of being racist or bigots.
they shouted with those silent before,
"You don't kill 'their' children!"
So far.
though their blood trumpeted peace,
no more murder,
to my parents, and their friends --
this world has yet to hear their explosion.
"Oh lord, how long will you not avenge their blood?"
A thousand years may be like a day to God.
yet one day is too many to a beloved child.
