'A mirror' or 'kissing the image'
'A mirror' or 'kissing the image' timothy r gates, 6/19/2012
A mirror,
looking dimly through a
window's lens,
shadows and glimpses
only photos and words
clearer than those
face to face,
those walking closer
presuming to be friends.
I gaze into the mirror
wiping away the fog,
the smear,
smiling, you're in their
reflection -
trouble with Icons,
they're not the thing,
they only point to it.
Kissing the image,
I pray for flight
beyond wood, paint and ink.
