'A Mother's love'

"Dear Woman, behold your Son (John); ...said to the disciple, behold your Mother." "...and a sword will piece through your (Mary) soul..."
(Something a parent and child share.)
'A Mother's love'                      timothy r gates, 3/06/2015
Baby, full of
grace and truth,
grew and learned.
Mother of the unique Son, who
stayed behind at the Temple,
Momma shaking, not omniscient,
"Where's my boy?"
Like any normal teen,
not getting her concern,
said. "I was about my father's business."
not making a chair and table set.
A proud Mom, at a wedding,
told the guests,
"My Son will make more wine for you."
she knew it would be the best.
Hanging on, above the earth,
her Son didn't forget his Mom's sorrow,
seeing her tears, remembering
her heart's pounding, not
noting it at twelve:
"Dear Woman, behold your Son;
(John) the disciple, behold your Mother."
A Mother's grief is not assuaged by,
"Your child's in a better place,"
even if he might be alive another day.
A child is not comforted by,
"Mom's happy now,"
as though she wasn't happy with you,
and you're certainly not.
Grief's tears,
replaced in time by
happy tears,
her blessed repose
beheld in the eyes of her Son.

'unnoticed angels'                       timothy r gates, 3/05/2015

Isis, cult,
murdering anyone in their way.
Go figure.
No other group has done this,
right?
Nomads, our species,
with their respective gods,
property changes hands,
eminent domain in the rawest form.
Democracies don't do this,
right?
Those without a god,
Communists of past decades
in the name of their idealism,
gather round, failed.
China, icon of others, continues the same,
with their multi-billionaires,
and their imprisoned indigenous -
simply for their independent, out loud thinking.
Depressed, overwhelmed?
Perhaps.
Then I recall, there are many, today
seeing good where evil is easy to curse.
Jesus, Buddha, MLK, Gandhi,
selective from the past. everyday
unnoticed angels
touching lives without seeking applause,
the only war for them -
love, not as a creed
love, not an aphorism
love, not only a noun.
Love lived face to face.
Curse the darkness, takes no effort.
Shine your light, blesses all.
Romantic?

'Children, pray they grow up'           timothy r gates, 3/11/2015

Little ones, cute,
taking their first steps
Jesus may love them,
some of us do too -
Then there are the others.
"Protect and serve,"
unsaid parental confidence,
just is done.
"Oh, we're sorry,"
the State when excusing themselves,
placing abused innocents into caring homes,
monthly checks help find concerned citizenry.
"Forgive, and forget,"
said by back patters,
liking the noise of applause,
not knowing The Holocaust, or other
unforgettable dreams.
Little ones, innocent,
guileless stepping into sunrises
Angels cover their eyes,
afraid to betray such beauty.
Then there are the others.
"When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you -
May all your dreams come true."
Children, pray they grow up.
Then there are the ah's.
